Hakim Bey (N)
Hakim Bey, based in New York, is the author of a series of booklets entitled Journal of the Moorish Paradigm dedicated to the teachings of one Noble Drew Ali, born Timothy Drew (1886-1929 ) and his view of Moorish science, history and civilisation. The overall tone of these journals is Afrocentrist and somewhat anti-European, perhaps with some justification.
Of interest to us is a number of references made to Atlantis throughout the series. They place Atlantis as a large island in the Atlantic, which was destroyed around 1500 BC, explaining that Plato’s 9,000 years are exaggerated by a factor of ten. The island contained the capital, but the Atlantean empire encompassed the Americas, Africa and parts of Europe!
