This was long before <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/ishoy-robert-paul\/\">Robert Ishoy<\/a> proposed the same on his website<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(a)<\/span><\/sup> and two decades<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong> before <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sergio-frau\/\">Sergio Frau<\/a> published his 2002 book with an identical claim. This led to accusations of plagiarism by Poddighe, who only then published his own book, <em>Atlantide Sardegna:Isola dei Faraoni <\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/n-r\/\">0711<\/a>]<\/sup><em> (Atlantis Sardinia: Island of the Pharaohs).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Where Frau locates the Pillars of Heracles at the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/strait-of-sicily\/\">Strait of Sicily<\/a>, Poddighe opted for the Strait of Bonifacio between Sardinia and Corsica, which would imply that the\u00a0islands of Atlantis &#8216;beyond the Pillars&#8217; would have to be the <a href=\"#BalearicIslands\">Balearic Islands<\/a>, which offer few features to match Plato&#8217;s description of Atlantis.<b> <\/b>Consequently, I am personally inclined towards siting them further east\u00a0at the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/strait-of-messina\/\">Strait of Messina<\/a>.<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>In which case, it could be reasonably argued that the islands &#8216;beyond the Pillars&#8217; were Sardinia and Corsica.<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&lt;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>(a)<\/sup> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlantisdiscovered.org\/Home.htm\">http:\/\/www.atlantisdiscovered.org\/Home.htm<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paolo Valente Poddighe is an Italian researcher who claims to have been the first to have identified Sardinia (along with Corsica)\u00a0as the location of Atlantis as early as\u00a01982.
