Earlier Gattefoss\u00e9, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/roux-claudius\/\">Claudius Roux<\/a>, published an extensive bibliography in a volume<strong><sup>[<\/sup><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/g\/\"><strong><sup>313<\/sup><\/strong><\/a><strong><sup>]<\/sup><\/strong>, which contains a list of 1,700 books and articles relating to Atlantis.<\/p>\r\n<p>In 1939, Gattefoss\u00e9 published a novel, <em>Les Portes de Bronze <\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/g\/\">1804<\/a>]<\/sup><em> (The Bronze Doors), <\/em>which purported to be based on the research notes of a then recently deceased &#8216;Jean de Sauveclare&#8217;, who had purportedly searched for Atlantis in 1921. Although de Sauveclare is noted on the cover as a co-author, I can find no record of any such real person &#8211; perhaps it was just a marketing ploy?<\/p>\r\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantisforschung-de\/\">Atlantisforschung.de<\/a><sup>(a)\u00a0<\/sup>Gattefoss\u00e9 wrote to <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sykes-j-egerton-bill\/\">Egerton Sykes <\/a>in 1959, declaring his belief that the Pillars of Heracles were situated in <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tartessos\/\">Tartessos<\/a>, now known as <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/seville\/\">Seville<\/a>, \u201cwhere they are a tourist attraction.\u201d The same link has interesting additional information about Jean and his brother <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gattefosse-rene-maurice\/\">Ren\u00e9-Maurice<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(a)<\/span><\/sup> <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantisforschung.de\/index.php?title=Jean_und_Ren%C3%A9-Maurice_Gattefoss%C3%A9\">https:\/\/atlantisforschung.de\/index.php?title=Jean_und_Ren%C3%A9-Maurice_Gattefoss%C3%A9<\/a> \u00a0(German)<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jean Gattefoss\u00e9 (1899-1960) was an advocate of a North African Atlantis and wrote two books[311][312] on the subject.
