{"id":11490,"date":"2010-09-06T14:31:38","date_gmt":"2010-09-06T14:31:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/?p=11490"},"modified":"2024-09-11T08:21:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T07:21:35","slug":"topper-uwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/topper-uwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Topper, Uwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Uwe<\/strong><strong> T<\/strong><strong>opper <\/strong><strong>(1940-) <\/strong>was born in Wroclaw, Poland (formerly Breslau, Germany) and currently living in Berlin where he earns a living as an artist.\u00a0 However, he is better known as a researcher and author in the fields of history, ethnography and anthropology. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Uwe_Topper.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-27861\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Uwe_Topper.jpg\" alt=\"Uwe_Topper\" width=\"180\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a>Towards the end of the last century, he turned his attention to chronology and developed his own version of <em>New Chronology <\/em>which incorporates some of the views of Anatoly Fomenko <sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bibliography\/e-f\/\">1823<\/a>] <\/sup>and Heribert Illig.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;New Chronology&#8217; is also a term applied to the realignment of the chronologies of the Middle East as expounded by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/david-rohl\/\">David Rohl<\/a>\u00a0and others. An interesting review of the New Chronology and its revisionist antecedents is available online<sup>(h)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>A paper<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(b<\/span><\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> by Topper on the subject is worth a read as is a critical review<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(g<\/span><\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> of Topper&#8217;s work by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/colavito-jason-n\/\">Jason Colavito<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An English translation of some of Topper&#8217;s work relating to his revisionist view of ancient chronology is available<sup>(i)<\/sup>. In it he explores what he describes as &#8220;<em>j<\/em><em>olts <\/em><em>and gaps in historical chronology&#8221;, <\/em>noting that <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>dates that were detem1ined centuries ago and documented in classical and prehistoric monuments collide with those re-calculated by modem techniques for those same objects. They diverge quite noticeably, and the more the dates go back in time the bigger the difference between the two, i.e. between real observation of that time and re-calculation based on present observations.&#8221; <\/em>Topper is convinced that chronological misalignments are the consequences of cataclysms<sup>(b)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Topper seems to thrive on controversy, because not content to deconstruct our chronology, he has denounced, <em>Beowulf, <\/em>the cave paintings of Chauvet, and the Lady of Elche as all fakes<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(a<\/span><\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>. He has also written an extensive paper<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(f<\/span><\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/14862\/\">cart ruts<\/a>, usually associated with just Malta, but which are found around the Mediterranean and further afield.<\/p>\n<p>Topper has also written about Atlantis, placing its capital on the site of modern Cadiz surrounded by nine other cities between <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/lisbon\/\">Lisbon<\/a> and Tarragona<sup><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(j)<\/span> <\/sup> (see <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/cassaro-richard\/\">Richard Cassaro<\/a>)\u00a0and has identified possible references to Atlantis in the Qur\u2019an<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><sup>(k)<\/sup><\/span> and also speculated that by 11,000 BC Atlantean culture had spread as far as the Americas and Asia! He dealt with these matters in his 1977 book<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/t-v\/\">916<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">]<\/span><\/sup><\/span>, <em>Das Erbe der Giganten.
