She studied history at Oxford. Towards the end of her life she wrote <em>Fabled Shore<\/em> in which she recounted her journey through post Civil War Spain. When she arrived at <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/cadiz\/\">Cadiz<\/a> she wrote of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tartessos\/\">Tartessos<\/a> being destroyed by the Carthaginians around 500 BC in order to remove the principal rival to their own city in the region, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gades\/\">Gades<\/a>.
