It was <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Los-Millares.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-62882 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Los-Millares.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"779\" height=\"606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Los-Millares.jpg 779w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Los-Millares-300x233.jpg 300w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Los-Millares-768x597.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 779px) 100vw, 779px\" \/><\/a>discovered at the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century and excavation continues today. The step pyramid of Monte d\u2019Accoddi on <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sardinia-amended\/\">Sardinia<\/a> has been compared to the Los Millares architecture. It is also claimed that Los Millares, along with other Iberian sites were <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/minoan-hypothesis\/\">Minoan<\/a> colonies<sup>(a<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> dating from the late 4<sup>th<\/sup> millennium BC. Inevitably, some commentators have tried to suggest a link with Atlantis, based on the existence there of a series of three concentric battlements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tributsch-helmut\/\">Helmut Tributsch<\/a> was one such advocate of Los Millares as Atlantis, who outlines his reasons in an article<sup>(e<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantisforschung-de\/\"><em>A<\/em><em>tlantisforschung<\/em><\/a> website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, Los Millares fails to match Plato\u2019s description on a number of counts; it\u2019s not an island, it\u2019s not submerged, it had no writing, etc. It might be worth mentioning that Los Millares, as the location of Atlantis, does not fit with the assumption that the Pillars of Heracles were situated at Gibraltar, as Los Millares is not \u2018beyond\u2019 the Pillars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/baird-w-sheppard\/\">Sheppard Baird<\/a>, in a paper on the <a href=\"#SeaPeoples\">Sea Peoples<\/a><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(b)<\/span><\/sup>, maintains that the Los Millares culture lasted until 2200 BC and was succeeded by the Argaric, named after the el Argar site.
