During the 1920&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/jorge-bonsor-n\/\">George Bonsor<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/adolph-schulten\/\">Adolph Schulten <\/a>searched the area for evidence of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tartessos\/\">Tartessos. <\/a>After that interest in the marshes waned until a few years ago when <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wickboldt-werner\/\">Werner Wickboldt<\/a> identified circular and rectangular features in the Park from satellite images, which he claimed a possibly Atlantean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/freund-professor-richard\/\">Richard Freund<\/a>, a professor from the University of Hartford, claims to have led a team to study the area and has had work included in a March 2011 National Geographic documentary, <em>Finding Atlantis<\/em>. However, Spanish anthropologist <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/villarias-robles-juan-n\/\">Juan Villarias-Robles <\/a>who has worked on the site for some years has declared<sup>(a)<\/sup> that Freund did not lead the investigations on the site and in fact spent less than a week there. Wickboldt\u2019s images turned out to be either\u00a0smaller than expected or were from the Muslim period.
