DeMelo is a Canadian physics researcher, with a particular focus on cosmology, as well as an interest in prehistory. He is the author of <em>General Principles of Reality,<\/em> as well as a short paper entitled <em>2012 and Atlantis<\/em><sup>(a)<\/sup>. His interest in mythology also led him to publish <em>Norse Mythology Rooted in Ancient Mesopotamia<\/em> <sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/d\/\"><sup>1700<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>He promotes the idea of civilisation being much older than currently accepted. To support this view, he lamely lists a number of ancient monuments and peoples which includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sumeria\/\">Sumerians<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/machu-picchu-n\/\">Machu Picchu<\/a>, Stone Hedge(sic) and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/easter-island-n\/\">Easter Island<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that Atlantis was situated in the Atlantic, beyond the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/pillars-of-herakles-revised\/\">Pillars of Heracles<\/a> at Gibraltar. He further contends that it had widespread influence, but was destroyed by a geological catastrophe.
