He published his <em>Le D\u00e9luge<\/em>\u00a0in Copenhagen in 1842 and in Paris<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/k-l\/\">794<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0in 1847, a work which included many original ideas. He was one of the first to suggest the possibility of an <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/pole-shift\/\">earth axial shift<\/a>, although in the French edition of his book, he discusses the 1844 theory of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/boucheporn-baron-rene-de-n\/\">Baron Ren\u00e9 de Boucheporn<\/a>, who also supported the idea of a pole shift.
