His grandfather, Vassily, had helped to develop the Czar\u2019s air force and his father was an attach\u00e9 at the Paris embassy and\u00a0later <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/dimitri-rebikoff.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27569\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/dimitri-rebikoff.jpg\" alt=\"dimitri-rebikoff\" width=\"233\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a>murdered in Prague by the KGB. During the Second World War Dimitri was forced to work in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>After the war, he returned to Paris and studied at the Sorbonne and\u00a0in 1959\u00a0moved to the United States, where he developed his career as an oceanographer and engineer. He has many inventions to his credit including an underwater camera and the <em>Pegasus<\/em> underwater platform. He has written a number of books on underwater exploration and photography that have been published in French and German as well as English.<\/p>\n<p>In 1968 Rebikoff, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/valentine-manson\/\">Dr. J. Manson Valentine<\/a>, discovered an anomalous underwater structure in ten feet of water off North<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bimini-roadwall\/\"> Bimini<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bahamas\/\">Bahamas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is 300 feet wide and 1600 feet long and has been the subject of controversy since its discovery. A number of writers have attempted, unsuccessfully, to link this strange structure with Atlantis. Rebikoff\u2019s conclusion was that the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bimini-roadwall\/\">Bimini Road <\/a>is some form of ancient harbour works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dimitri Rebikoff (1921-1997) was born in Paris of Russian parents.
