He wrote of Atlantis as a large island in the western ocean, punished by god with submergence. He also added a twist to the tale by recording a tradition that Noah had resided in Atlantis. Cosmas was probably the first writer to use Plato\u2019s tale as evidence for the veracity of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/the-bible-amended\/\">Bible<\/a>. He contended that Atlantis was the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/eden-2\/\">Garden of Eden<\/a> and that Plato&#8217;s 10 <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/kings-of-atlantis\/\">kings of Atlantis<\/a> were the 10 generations between Adam and Noah!<\/p>\n<p>His only extant book, <em>C<\/em><em>hristian<\/em><em> T<\/em><em>opography,<\/em> is a bizarre work that includes support for a Flat (Square)\u00a0Earth.\u00a0A translation<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/c\/\">1245<\/a>]<\/sup> by J. W. McCrindle was published by the Hakluyt Society in 1897<sup>(b)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Square-Earth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-36684 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Square-Earth.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Square-Earth.jpg 500w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Square-Earth-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>It seems to me that Cosmas has added little to the Atlantis story except for further confusion. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/franke-thorwald-c\/\">Thorwald C.
