In his 1669 offering, <em>De Originibus Americanis<\/em><sup>[<\/sup><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/h-j\/\">1412<\/a>]<\/sup> he opted for <a href=\"#America\">America<\/a> as Atlantis, based on a literal translation of Plato\u2019s text.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/franke-thorwald-c\/\">Thorwald C. Franke<\/a>\u00a0refers to\u00a0Horn&#8217;s work &#8220;De originibus Americanis&#8221;, published in 1669, in which the professor &#8220;<em>set up the thesis, among other things, that the Americans descended from\u00a0<\/em><em>Phoenicians<\/em><em>, Scythians and Asiatics to reconcile biblical chronology and ethnology. Horn equated Plato&#8217;s Atlantis with America, whereby he relocated the sinking of Atlantis to the island world of the Gulf of Mexico: a theory by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/peter-martyr-danghiera\/\">Peter Martyr d&#8217;Anghiera<\/a> (1457-1526) said that these islands once formed a contiguous mainland.
