The site was rediscovered in 1987, just as the locality was at risk of submersion due to a proposed nearby dam-building project. This was later put on hold.<\/p>\n<p>It has been compared with <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/stonehenge-new\/\">Stonehenge<\/a><sup>(g)<\/sup>, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/troy-towns-n\/\">Troy Towns<\/a><sup>(d)<\/sup> and Plato\u2019s Atlantis<sup>(a)<\/sup>. It is also claimed as a psychic \u2018hotspot&#8217;<sup>(e)<\/sup>\u00a0as well as a site of UFO activity!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Arkaim1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-28587\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Arkaim1.png\" alt=\"Arkaim\" width=\"375\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Arkaim1.png 375w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Arkaim1-281x300.png 281w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a>The suggested Atlantis link is just fanciful and does not stand up to the most cursory examination. For example, there is no evidence that Arkaim was ever submerged, as Atlantis was recorded to have been by Plato.<\/p>\n<p>A 2014 article that compared Arkaim with Stonehenge commented that <em>\u201cIt would seem that Arkaim is an even better astronomical observatory than its namesake.\u201d<\/em><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(g)<\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Victoria Lepage, a purveyor of mystical twaddle, has endeavoured to incorporate Arkaim into her pathetic view of world history<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(h)<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Tony\/Documents\/Atlantipedia.Oct.2013\/TEXT%20with%20Links%20Oct.17.docx\">Dale Drinnon\u2019s<\/a> website included an extensive entry on Arkaim in Feb. 2012<sup>(f)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>August 2015 produced a report<sup>(i)<\/sup> that a 2,000-year-old skeleton of a female, with an elongated skull, had been unearthed in the vicinity of Arkaim.
