Ulf<\/strong> R<\/strong>ichter<\/strong> (1935-2006)<\/strong> was a German researcher, who was a regular contributor to the A<\/em>tlantis<\/em> R<\/em>ising<\/em> forums and who also presented a paper(<\/sup>a<\/sup>)<\/sup> to the 2005 Atlantis conference<\/a> on Melos. Richter offered us a \"Ulf_Richter\"<\/a>number of very interesting and cogently argued points in his essay [<\/sup>629<\/sup><\/a>.451]<\/sup>. He discusses the topographical details provided by Plato and concludes that the capital city of Atlantis was constructed on a river delta(b)<\/sup>. He contended that the \u2018circular\u2019 canals<\/a> were possibly an adaptation of existing natural features and provided good reasons to believe that the dimensions<\/a> noted by Plato are incorrect as a consequence of confusion between the Greek stade<\/a> and the Egyptian \u2018khet<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

At the 2005 Atlantis Conference<\/a>, Richter, when commenting on the Richat Structure<\/a>, pointed out that it is too wide (35 km), too elevated (400 metres) and too far from the sea (500 km) to be seriously considered the location of Atlantis. [629<\/a>.455]<\/p>\n

Richter offered some thoughtful comments regarding his\u00a0interpretation of Plato’s reference to 9,000 years, subsequently quoted on an online forum(d)<\/sup>. [see Archive 2846<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Another of Richter’s interests was the study of the Etruscans<\/a>, in which connection he co-wrote a paper with Luana Monte<\/a>(c)<\/span><\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Sadly, Ulf died of cancer in April 2006.<\/p>\n
