He was renowned in academic circles for his translations of the works of Plato and Aristotle. His remarks on the Atlantis commentators of his day are as relevant today as over a century ago when he said <i>\u201cThe catalogue of statements about Atlantis is a fairly good aid for the study of human madness.\u201d <\/i>\u00a0The accuracy of his statement is borne out by the swollen ranks of today\u2019s \u2018lunatic fringe\u2019 who claim inspiration from psychics, extraterrestrials\u00a0or who\u00a0insist that Atlantis was powered by crystals and possessed flying machines. The publication of such nonsense has continually undermined the credibility of serious Atlantology.<\/p>\n<p>Susemihl\u2019s German translation of Plato\u2019s <em>Timaeus<\/em> and <em>Critias<\/em> is available online.<sup>(a)(b)<\/sup>. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/franke-thorwald-c\/\">Thorwald C.
