{"id":21548,"date":"2013-07-18T08:45:47","date_gmt":"2013-07-18T07:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/?p=21548"},"modified":"2025-11-22T09:55:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T09:55:19","slug":"aldamiz-luis-n","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/aldamiz-luis-n\/","title":{"rendered":"Aldamiz, Luis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Luis Aldamiz (aka Maju)<\/strong> is an independent Basque researcher who has <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/666.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-22796\" style=\"border: 4px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/666.jpg\" alt=\"666\" width=\"145\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a>concluded that the Atlantean Empire was at the centre of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/vnsp-vila-nova-de-sao-pedro-n\/\">VNSP<\/a> (Vila Nova de S\u00e3o Pedro) culture in\u00a0ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/portugal\/\">Portugal<\/a><sup>(a)(b)<\/sup>.\u00a0 Its capital Zambujal, was situated near the modern city of Torres Vedras, just north of Lisbon. He bases his idea on a number of topographical and historical parallels between the VNSP region and Plato\u2019s description of Atlantis<sup>(c)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In order to have Plato\u2019s account of the Atlantean War conform to his location theory, he suggests that the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/mycenaean\/\">Mycenaean Greeks<\/a> fought alongside the El Argar people in southeast Spain against the VNSP Atlanteans! The evidence for such a military alliance is at best tenuous or, more likely, purely speculative.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/VNSP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-22797\" style=\"border: 4px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/VNSP.jpg\" alt=\"VNSP\" width=\"228\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a><\/span>However, the idea is not as far-fetched as it might seem when combined with the views of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/baird-w-sheppard\/\">W.Sheppard Baird<\/a> who claims that Minoans had been the colonisers of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/los-millares\/\">Los Millares<\/a> \u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/andalusia\/\">Andalusia<\/a> as early as 4000 BC. In due course, the culture of Los Millares was superseded by that of El Argar. This begs the question as whether the Mycenaeans who had succeeded the Minoans on Crete also replaced them in their Andalusian colonies!<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, no matter how interesting the theories of Aldamiz and Baird may be, they have still to explain Plato\u2019s claim that the Atlanteans \u2018controlled\u2019 Europe as far as <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tyrrhenia\/\">Tyrhennia<\/a>, along with part of North Africa, before their eastward invasion!
