Franke<\/a> has written a short paper<sup>(b)<\/sup> on Pettersson&#8217;s important contribution to the Atlantis debates, offering scientific reasons for dismissing the idea of Atlantis being located in the Atlantic. In the process he refuted the earlier theories of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/termier-pierre\/\">Pierre Termier<\/a> and demolished the idea of transatlantic <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/landbridges-n\/\">land bridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although he has excluded the Atlantic, he is equally unhappy with a Mediterranean location, preferring not to accept the Atlantis story as history!<\/p>\n<p>He published his views, in Swedish, in 1944 as <em>Atlantis och Atlanten, <\/em>which was subsequently translated into German by another physicist, Stefan Meyer, entitled <em>Atlantis und Atlantik<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/n-r\/\">0503<\/a>]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>An article on the <em>Atlantisforschung<\/em> website by Ferdinand Speidel offers a totally different view of Petterson&#8217;s Atlantis &#8216;scepticism&#8217;<sup>(c)<\/sup>.<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&lt;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pettersson led the Swedish Albatross Expedition of 1947-1948 which surveyed the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantic-ocean\/\">Atlantic<\/a>.
