It is now comprised of Israel, Palestinian territory, along with\u00a0parts of Jordan and Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>The Holy Land was suggested by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/serranus\/\">Serranus<\/a> (Jean de Serres) in 1570 as the location of Atlantis. This idea was later echoed by\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gerardus-johannis-vossius-amended\/\">Gerardus Johannis Vossius<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/carl-friedrich-baer-amended\/\">Carl Fredrich Ba\u00ebr<\/a> who was Swedish, but lived in France during the 18<sup>th<\/sup> century. Another Swede, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/eurenius-johannes-jacobi\/\">Johannes Eurenius,<\/a> also placed Atlantis in Holy Land in his 1751 book.<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/van-eys-peter\/\">Peter Van Eys<\/a>, a Dutchman, also favoured the idea in a 1715 dissertation <sup>[<\/sup><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bibliography\/e-f\/\">1222<\/a>]<\/sup>. Further support came from the German scholar <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/fabricius-johann-albert\/\">Johann Albert Fabricius<\/a> (1668-1736), as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/scharbau-heinrich-n\/\">Heinrich Scharbau<\/a>.<b> <\/b>Another 18th-century scholar, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bonnaud-jacques-julien-n\/\">Jacques Julien Bonnaud<\/a> was of the opinion<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>0967<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> that when Plato wrote about Atlantis, he was imperfectly describing the Holy Land! His book, <em>H\u00e9rodote historien du peuple h\u00e9breu sans le savoir<\/em> \u00a0is available as a free ebook<sup>(a)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantisforschung-de\/\">Atlantisforschung<\/a>, commenting on Van Eys, concluded<sup>(c)<\/sup>\u00a0 that <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>it should be noted that the heyday of the\u00a0&#8216;<\/em><em>Atlantis\u00a0in the <\/em><em>Holy Land&#8217;\u00a0thesis&#8217; was already over in his day.\u00a0It is true that in 1826 &#8211; a year before the publication of his doctoral thesis &#8211; the\u00a0&#8216;dissertation sur le Critias de Platon&#8217;\u00a0by the French scholar\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/olivier-de-marseille\/\"><em>Claude-Mathieu Olivier<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0appeared, who took the view that\u00a0<\/em><em>Plato&#8217;s Atlantis report was basically represents a description of events from the early days of the Jewish people. However, these and similar writings of the 18th century only represented the short-lived renaissance of an already outdated &#8216;Bible-true view of Atlantis&#8217;.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In recent times a more radical view has been proposed by Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/manuschevich-jaime\/\">Jaime Manuschevich<\/a> who has identified modern Israel together with the Sinai Peninsula as the true site of Atlantis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/pitterson-ryan\/\">Ryan Pitterson<\/a>, the author of <em>Judgement of the Nephilim <\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/n-r\/\">1620<\/a>]<\/sup><em>, <\/em>contends that Atlantis was situated on the Golan Heights, overlooking the Sea of Galilee and currently occupied by Israel. The region is home to Gilgal Refaim, an archaeological site consisting of several <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/concentric-rings\/\">concentric<\/a> stone walls with demonstrable astronomical alignments.
