{"id":2241,"date":"2010-05-31T09:30:06","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T09:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/horozco-agustin-de\/"},"modified":"2026-03-21T11:02:02","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T11:02:02","slug":"horozco-agustin-de","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/horozco-agustin-de\/","title":{"rendered":"Horozco, Agust\u00edn de"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Agust\u00edn de<\/strong><strong> H<\/strong><strong>orozco <\/strong>was a 16<sup>th<\/sup> century Spanish historian who wrote a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/cadiz\/\">Cadiz<\/a> in 1591. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/asher-dr-maxine-klein\/\">Maxine Asher<\/a> has quoted from this work where Horozco describes Cadiz in ancient times being separated from the mainland by a <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/deluge\/\">deluge<\/a> that was also responsible for the separation of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sicily\/\">Sicily<\/a> from mainland Italy and destruction as far as Greece, where the island of Euboea was cut off from Greece. He states that this inundation was accompanied by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/earthquake\/\">earthquakes<\/a> and resulted in a great loss of life and land. If this account is reliable, it describes a cataclysm that affected the entire length of the Mediterranean and at least part of the Atlantic coast of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/spain\/\">Spain<\/a>. It is reminiscent of Plato\u2019s description of the catastrophe(s) that destroyed the armies of both Athens and Atlantis.
