In 1884 he authored <i>Exploration scientifique de la Tunisie<\/i><sup>(a)<\/sup> in which he echoed the views of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/donnelly-ignatius-loyola\/\">Ignatius Donnelly<\/a> and promoted the idea of Atlantis in the Atlantic, <i>\u201cwhere there must have existed a vast continent of which the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/canary-islands\/\">Canaries<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/azores\/\">Azores<\/a> may be considered to be the remnants.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>Although he never associated North Africa with Atlantis, he was very interested in the history of the region. Atlantisforschung notes that <em>&#8220;In 1863\u00a0Tissot presented a<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em>dissertation, written in Latin, on his studies of Lake Triton (De Tritonide lacu).
