According to <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/diodorus-siculus\/\">Diodorus Siculus<\/a> (Book 1) it is claimed that the Athenians were colonists from Sais in Egypt and that they brought the name Asty from the city of the same name there, which is thought to be Alexandria. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sais-addendum\/\">Sais<\/a> was the centre of the cult of the Egyptian goddess <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/neith\/\">Neith<\/a> and accepted by Plato (<em>T<\/em><em>im. <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/timaeus-text-20d-27b\/\"><em>21E<\/em><\/a>) as identical to Athena, after whom the Greek city was named. Tim. 21E uses the term Asty in the Latin translation of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/chalcidius\/\">Chalcidius<\/a> only, a fact highlighted by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/mcquillen-rich\/\">R.
