{"id":2547,"date":"2010-06-02T06:19:08","date_gmt":"2010-06-02T06:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/?p=2547"},"modified":"2025-12-08T19:57:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T19:57:36","slug":"atland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atland\/","title":{"rendered":"Atland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A<\/strong><strong>tland<\/strong> is a place name mentioned in the Oera Linda Book that has been equated by some with Atlantis, thus placing Plato\u2019s story somewhere in the region of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/north-sea\/\">North Sea<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/scrutton-robert\/\">Robert Scrutton<\/a> wrote two books<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/s\/\"><sup>117<\/sup><\/a><sup>][<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/s\/\"><sup>118<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> devoted to the Oera Linda Book and its connection with Atlantis. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/spanuth-dr-jurgen\/\">J\u00fcrgen Spanuth<\/a> observes that Atland, Adalland and Oatland are common place names around the North Sea and notes that Atland has been interpreted as \u2018sea king\u2019!<\/p>\n<p>In his eBook<sup>(<\/sup><sup>a<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/the-oera-linda-book\/\">Oera Linda Book<\/a>, Anthony Radford suggests that Atland is a corruption of Aldland, meaning \u2018old land\u2019 or \u2018home country.<\/p>\n<p>Alewyn J. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/raubenheimer-alewyn-j-n\/\">Raubenheimer <\/a>suggests that <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/frisland-n\/\">Frisland<\/a> and Atland may be identical and was located north-west of Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Guy <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gervis-guy\/\">Gervis<\/a> offered a paper entitled <em>Atland and After<\/em><em>, <\/em>in which he supports the veracity of the <em>OLB <\/em>and a North Sea Atlantis, the destruction of which he accepts to have occurred to 2193 BC<sup>(b)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><sup>(<\/sup><sup>a<\/sup><sup>) <\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170220180533\/https:\/\/earth-history.com\/Europe\/God-king\/radford-intro.htm\">https:\/\/www.earth-history.com\/Europe\/God-king\/radford-intro.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p><sup>(b)<\/sup>\u00a0 <a href=\"see:%20https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/archive-3606\/\">See: https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/archive-3606\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Atland is a place name mentioned in the Oera Linda Book that has been equated by some with Atlantis, thus placing Plato\u2019s story somewhere in the region of the North Sea.
