He is probably best known for his book <em>T<\/em><em>he <\/em><em>H<\/em><em>istory and <\/em><em>F<\/em><em>uture of <\/em><em>I<\/em><em>sraelite <\/em><em>A<\/em><em>merica<\/em><sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>184<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup>, which promotes the idea of America having been settled in pre-Columbian times by some of the<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Walter-Baucum.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27301\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Walter-Baucum.jpg\" alt=\"Walter Baucum\" width=\"150\" height=\"234\" \/><\/a> lost tribes of Israel. He also wrote a number of articles on the same subject<sup>(a)(b)<\/sup>.He believed that <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/britain\/\">Britain<\/a> and the other nations of Europe are also descendants of these \u2018lost tribes\u2019. These ideas have been around for a couple of centuries and are usually supported by Christian groups. Baucum however was a member of the United Hebrew Congregation.More recently, he has ventured into the realms of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantology\/\">Atlantology,<\/a> publishing his <em>B<\/em><em>ronze <\/em><em>A<\/em><em>ge <\/em><em>A<\/em><em>tlantis<\/em><sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>183<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup>, which is a large-format, wide-ranging book with an Introduction by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/davidiy-yair-n\/\">Yair Davidy<\/a>. In it, he follows some of the ideas of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/spanuth-dr-jurgen\/\">J\u00fcrgen Spanuth<\/a>, who placed Atlantis in the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/north-sea\/\">North Sea<\/a> and identified the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sea-peoples\/\">Sea Peoples<\/a> who invaded <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/egypt\/\">Egypt<\/a> as the \u2018North Sea Peoples\u2019. Baucum introduced a number of hard-to-accept ideas, such as the Picts of Scotland and the Irish leprechauns (little people) were Minoan!\n<p>He concluded that Atlantis was basically \u201ca seafaring, metal-gathering empire\u201d, while with regard to the location of Atlantis, the capital city, he echoed Spanuth and opted for the vicinity of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/helgoland\/\">Heligoland<\/a>, where sandbanks existed to the east as late as the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century (p.297).\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>However, he also generously included the Americas as part of ancient Atlantis <sup>[p.263]<\/sup>!<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&lt;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>(a)<\/sup> <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170724211047\/https:\/\/www.uhcg.org\/Lost-10-Tribes\/AreWeIsrael.html\">https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170724211047\/https:\/\/www.uhcg.org\/Lost-10-Tribes\/AreWeIsrael.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p><sup>(b)<\/sup> <a href=\"https:\/\/guapotg.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/23\/dan-in-america-by-walter-baucum\/\">https:\/\/guapotg.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/23\/dan-in-america-by-walter-baucum\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walter Winston Baucum (1938-2012) was a retired American teacher with a passion for ancient history.
