In 1933, because of his Jewish background, he fled to France and afterward to Czechoslovakia, where he was arrested by the Gestapo in 1939 and executed in Berlin in 1943.<\/p>\n<p>In 1893, Bessmertny published a short review of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/a-f-r-knotel-new\/\">August Knotel<\/a>&#8216;s Atlantis theories. An English translation is available here<sup>(a)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1930s he wrote about Atlantis in<em> Das Atlantisr\u00e4tsel, <\/em>and was published in German<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>176<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> and also in French. The latter was translated<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>175<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> by F. Gidon, who also added his own ideas to the text.
