He had his ideas revealed in a History Channel program, <em>Atlantis Found,<\/em> which first aired on October 19<sup>th,<\/sup> 2015<sup>(a)<\/sup> as part of their <em>How the Earth Works<\/em> series.<\/p>\n<p>I found it interesting that the advertising blurb for the show never once mentions Plato!<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprising, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/colavito-jason-n\/\">Jason Colavito,<\/a> an Atlantis sceptic,\u00a0offers a scathing critique of the two-hour show <sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(b)<\/span><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong>Additionally, the German website, <em>Atlantisforschung, <\/em>criticises<sup>(c)<\/sup> the selective manner in which Pepper chose excerpts from Plato, carefully ignoring details that might conflict with Santorini being Atlantis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>Furthermore,\u00a0Martin Pepper\u00a0commits the same mistake as almost all supporters of the\u00a0<\/em><em>Creto-Minoan Atlantis theories: He seeks out exactly those details from\u00a0Plato&#8217;s\u00a0Atlantis\u00a0report<\/em> <em>that correspond to his own ideas and a supposedly unalterable &#8216;state of scientific knowledge&#8217;, while ignoring everything which doesn&#8217;t fit.&#8221;<\/em> Atlantisforschung ends with a quote from <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/stelios-grant-pavlou\/\">Stelios Pavlou<\/a>\u00a0who commented &#8211; <em>&#8220;Although<\/em>\u00a0<em>Pepper\u00a0relies\u00a0heavily on factual science, much of the criticism of<\/em>\u00a0[his]\u00a0<em>theory boils down to the fact that his claim is based on <\/em><em>ignoring much of Plato&#8217;s real text.&#8221;<\/em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&lt;<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For my part, I cannot accept the Santorini\/Thera theory without a convincing explanation for where, in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> millennium BC, the Atlantean military of over a million men, plus an even larger civilian population actually lived, not to mention the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/elephants-2\/\">elephants<\/a>. Then there is also a small matter of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/plain-of-atlantis\/\">Plain of Atlantis <\/a>370x550km (230&#215;345 miles); where was that? Finally, for good measure, we are missing <em>&#8220;the mountains which surrounded it (that) were at that time celebrated as surpassing all that now exist in number, magnitude and beauty.&#8221; <\/em>(Critias.118b).
