{"id":2875,"date":"2010-06-05T18:48:57","date_gmt":"2010-06-05T18:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/booysen-riaan\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T07:43:59","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T07:43:59","slug":"booysen-riaan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/booysen-riaan\/","title":{"rendered":"Booysen, Riaan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/booysen.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-21115\" style=\"border: 4px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/booysen-250x300.gif\" alt=\"booysen\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Riaan <\/strong><strong>B<\/strong><strong>ooysen <\/strong>is a South African researcher (and avid tennis fan) who has written articles on a number of ancient mysteries,\u00a0which can be found on his website<sup>(e<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>.\u00a0Among his controversial ideas are that the Queen of Sheba, Nefertiti and Helen of Troy were a single person<sup>(d)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>He offers a major paper on Atlantis<sup>(a)<\/sup>, in which he bravely identifies its location \u00a0as an extensive landmass which included present day <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/australia\/\">Australia<\/a>. Unlike other writers who have offered similar suggestions based on guesswork, Booysen presents a more coherent thesis, based on the geology of the South Pacific and early <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/cartography-n\/\">cartography<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His theory requires a radical redating of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/antarctica\/\">Antarctic<\/a> ice cap, which has led to continued debate on the internet<sup>(c)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Booysen has now (Nov 2023) developed his Atlantis theories further and published them in book form, <em>Atlantis Revealed<\/em> <a href=\"#A2079\"><sup>[<\/sup><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/b\/\"><sup>2079<\/sup><\/a><a href=\"#A2079\"><sup>] <\/sup><\/a> explaining that <em>&#8220;I have since (end 2022) decided to revisit and thoroughly study and expand, where necessary, my Atlantis theory once more, with the intent of having it formally published. My latest studies include significantly more information than previously available on my website, and several additional hypotheses about the fate of the Atlanteans after their continent had been \u2018sunk\u2019.
