(L)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>W.H. Oliphant<\/strong><strong> Smeaton <\/strong><strong>(1856-1914) <\/strong>was a Scottish writer and journalist. He spent a number of years in Australia and New Zealand and while there expressed the view, in the local media, that Atlantis had been located in the<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantic-ocean\/\"> Atlantic<\/a><sup>(a)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Smeaton was very impressed by Donnelly&#8217;s hyperdiffusionist Atlantis and writing in the <em>Westminster Review<\/em> of 1895 he referred to the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/easter-island-n\/\">Easter Island <\/a>statues as vindication of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/donnelly-ignatius-loyola\/\">Donnelly<\/a>&#8216;s views.
