{"id":3019,"date":"2010-06-06T18:56:27","date_gmt":"2010-06-06T18:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/clarke-dean\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T17:22:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T17:22:11","slug":"clarke-dean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/clarke-dean\/","title":{"rendered":"Clarke, Dean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dean<\/strong><strong> C<\/strong><strong>larke<\/strong> is the American webmaster of the extensive <em>Atlantisite<\/em><sup>(<\/sup><sup>a<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>, billed as the <em>New Atlantean Research Journal <\/em>and intended as a successor to <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sykes-j-egerton-bill\/\">Egerton Sykes<\/a>&#8216; print journals <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantean-research\/\"><em>Atlantean Research<\/em><\/a> &amp;<sup>\u00a0<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantis1\/\"><em>Atlantis<\/em><\/a> (1948-1976).\u00a0Clarke publishes under the modest title of \u2018world authority on Atlantis\u2019, without telling anyone who awarded him this epithet. Perhaps best described in paraphrased NASA-speak as \u2018the ego has landed\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The site is apparently focused on supporting an Atlantic location for Atlantis, although the first paper that he published located Atlantis in <a href=\"#France\">France<\/a><sup>(c)<\/sup>!\u00a0He also includes a map, which I find totally confusing!<\/p>\n<p>Atlantisite contains a valuable archive of articles published by Sykes from the 1950&#8217;s until 1976<sup>(d<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>.\u00a0Clarke claims to have studied with Sykes, but there is no evidence for this<sup>(e<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Clarke published <em>Atlantis &#8211; Ancient Maritime Culture <\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/c\/\">1726<\/a>]<\/sup>, which he claims is the culmination of 45 years of Atlantis research. This expensive Kindle book has the equivalent of nearly 500 pages. It has\u00a0 very few paragraph breaks, which is bad enough, but it is compounded by a rambling style, which, for me, made it unreadable. A &#8216;look inside&#8217;<sup>(<\/sup><sup>b<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> on the Amazon website will confirm my view.<\/p>\n<p>He claims in the book&#8217;s promotional blurb to have new information regarding Atlantis from a<em> &#8220;rare Codex lost during the French Revolution called &#8216;Codex Atlanteanus&#8217; by Labretagne, who was a fairly famous Poet and Atlantis Scholar in the 1500&#8217;s AD.&#8221;<\/em> No record exists of this document or its author, whose name just means &#8216;Brittany&#8217;! I seem to detect a whiff of rodent here.<\/p>\n<p>Clarke subsequently published quite a number of other books, including Radiant Bull of Ancient France &amp; Esoteric Mysteries of Atlantis. More recently, he has taken to writing about such diverse matters as the Oak Island Mystery and<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gobekli-tepe\/\"> G\u00f6bekli Tepe. <\/a><\/span>I find it strange that looking at Clarke&#8217;s page on Amazon.com today (1\/7\/24) lists his many books, but there is no mention of his Atlantis book)!
