Count Byron Khun<\/b> de Prorok <\/b>(1896-1954) <\/b>has been variously described an American with a Polish title or as a Pole married to an American. He was originally a conventional archaeologist having worked on the site of Carthage.<\/a> He then developed into an adventurous \"deProrok\"<\/a>explorer in the early 1920\u2019s and 1930\u2019s whose escapades would have been worthy of Indiana Jones.<\/p>\n

Perhaps his most famous achievement was the discovery of the tomb of the legendary Berber<\/a> queen, Tin Hinan. However, this claim did not stand up to closer scrutiny as James Bramwell <\/a><\/span>revealed in his Lost Atlantis[195<\/a>.115]<\/sup>.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khun de Prorock became convinced that Atlantis had a North African <\/a>origin, specifically on the Hoggar Plateau(c)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

He was author of a number of books recounting his experiences, including Digging for Lost African Gods, <\/i>now available online(a)<\/sup>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

His \u2018discoveries\u2019 were not given any serious consideration by orthodox archaeologists.<\/span> He died unexpectedly in the mid-1950\u2019s according to a report in the November\/December 1958 edition of Sykes<\/a>\u2019 Atlantis <\/i>journal.<\/p>\n
