D\u2019Olivet had participated in a foiled assassination plot against King Louis XVI in 1789 and is described as a mystical advisor to Napoleon Bonaparte<\/p>\n<p>He promoted the idea that the white races originated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/arctic-sea\/\">Arctic<\/a> region and gradually spread southward. These ideas would appear to have been a precursor of some of the daft racial concepts of<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/blavatsky-madame-helena-petrovna\/\"> Blavatsky <\/a>and eventually the even more bizarre notions that led to the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/nazis-and-atlantis\/\">Nazi<\/a> ideas of their racial superiority and their origins.<\/p>\n<p>In 1801 d\u2019Olivet expressed his view that Atlantis had been located in the Western Mediterranean. He also claimed that a <em>\u2018sudden movement of the terrestrial globe\u2019<\/em> created the flood that submerged Atlantis<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><\/strong>and that the Hebrews were the successors of the Atlanteans.
