As a former Parisian police <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/jhebert-Jacques.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-30332\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/jhebert-Jacques.jpg\" alt=\"jhebert, Jacques\" width=\"235\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a>chief, he claims to have applied his skills in that field to solving the mystery of Plato\u2019s island. He critically re-examines the original text and offers an interpretation that he believes provides a more rational and harmonious reading of the narrative. His conclusion is that Atlantis lay in the Indian Ocean and that its culture was derived from the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/indus-valley\/\">Indus Valley<\/a>. He specifically identifies the Yemeni island of Socotra as part of the Atlantean civilisation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e9bert postulates that this empire had at least trade connections in the eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/mediterranean-sea\/\">Mediterranean<\/a> and quite possibly had a colony in the region that produced the predecessors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/phoenicians\/\">Phoenicians<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e9bert identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bab-el-mandeb\/\">Bab el Mandeb<\/a> as Plato\u2019s Pillars of Heracles by assuming that Solon mistook the description of that strait, given to him by the priests of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sais-addendum\/\">Sais<\/a>, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/strait-of-gibraltar\/\">Strait of Gibraltar<\/a>, which has similar features. The <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/earthquake\/\">earthquake<\/a> that destroyed Atlantis is attributed by him to a close encounter with an extraterrestrial body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, H\u00e9bert&#8217;s Atlantis book was published in English <sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/h-j\/\">2107<\/a>]<\/sup>.
