He drew on the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/adolph-schulten\/\">Adolf Schulten<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/jessen-professor-otto\/\">Otto Jessen<\/a> to support his conviction that the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/scheria\/\">Scheria<\/a> referred to by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/homer\/\">Homer<\/a> was in fact Atlantis. Hennig drew up a list of similarities between the two<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/h-j\/\"><sup>613<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> but as <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zhirov-nicolai-feodosyevich\/\">N. Zhirov<\/a> remarked, an equally long list of discrepancies could be compiled leaving the question still open.<\/p>\n<p>In 1925, Hennig argued forcefully that Atlantis had controlled <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/cadiz\/\">C\u00e1diz<\/a> in Spain where Tartessos was located. He claimed to have demonstrated that the Atlantean kingdom of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/eumelos\/\">Gadeirus <\/a>controlled Atlantic Spain during pre-Classical times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zangger-eberhard\/\">Eberhard<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zangger-eberhard\/\">Za<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zangger-eberhard\/\">ngger<\/a> noted [<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/w-z\/\">483<\/a>.109] that in a 1927 article Hennig &#8220;investigated the root of the term &#8216;the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/pillars-of-herakles-revised\/\">Pillars of Heracles<\/a>&#8216; and concluded that it was not initially applied to the Straits of Gibraltar but to another locality at the end of the Greek sphere of influence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hennig also saw similarities between Atlantis and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tartessos\/\">Tartessos<\/a> and believed the Greeks of Plato\u2019s era thought of Tartessos as having disappeared no more than a hundred years earlier. This idea would have placed the demise of Tartessos\/Atlantis around 500 BC, in other words <strong>after<\/strong> Solon\u2019s visit to Egypt!<\/p>\n<p>According to Atlantisforschung.de, &#8220;It should be noted that\u00a0Richard Hennig\u00a0later apparently turned away from the &#8216;Tartessos\u00a0=\u00a0Atlantis&#8217; assumption and &#8216;converted&#8217; to the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/helgoland\/\">Heligoland<\/a> localization of Pastor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/spanuth-dr-jurgen\/\">J\u00fcrgen Spanuth<\/a>, who said with satisfaction: &#8221;\u00a0<em>After Hennig got to know my work, he wrote he said that he had completely changed his opinion and agreed with my views &#8216;completely&#8217;.
