It is claimed by the historian <a title=\"Thucydides\" href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/thucydides\/\">Thucydides<\/a> that Italos gave his name to Italy. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A more detailed overview of the development of Italy&#8217;s name is available online<sup>(c)<\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/franke-thorwald-c\/\">Thorwald Franke<\/a> submitted a paper to the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlantis-conference-2008\/\">2008 Atlantis Conference<\/a> in Athens in which he identified <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlas\/\">Atlas<\/a> with Italos<sup>(<\/sup><sup>a<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup> and the island of Sicily with the island of Atlantis.
