He was arrested during the French Revolution and was sentenced to death, but was released as a result of the intervention of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bory-de-saint-vincent-baron-jean-baptise-genevieve-marcellin\/\">Bory de Saint Vincent<\/a>.
