{"id":3572,"date":"2010-06-09T17:34:44","date_gmt":"2010-06-09T17:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/le-cour-paul\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T09:57:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T08:57:06","slug":"le-cour-paul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/le-cour-paul\/","title":{"rendered":"Le Cour, Paul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Paul<\/strong> <strong>L<\/strong><strong>e<\/strong><strong> C<\/strong><strong>our<\/strong> <strong>(1871-1954) <\/strong>was the co-founder, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/devigne-roger\/\">Roger D\u00e9vigne<\/a>, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Paul-Le-Cour.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20875 alignleft\" style=\"border: 4px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Paul-Le-Cour-215x300.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Le Cour\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Paul-Le-Cour-215x300.jpg 215w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Paul-Le-Cour.jpg 329w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/the-society-for-atlantis-studies-revised\/\">Society for Atlantis Studies<\/a> in 1925. However, the group split into two shortly afterwards, with Le Cour as president of <em>Societe <\/em><em>Francais<\/em> <em>d\u2019Atlantologie <\/em>and D\u00e9vigne leading his own group. It appears that D\u00e9vigne\u2019s pragmatic approach was incompatible with Le Cour\u2019s more esoteric views, which had veered towards Celtic Mysticism. As one person commented, \u201cLe Cour became more interested in the soul than the body of Atlantis\u201d. Le Cour&#8217;s first book about Atlantis was <em>A la recherche d&#8217;un monde perdue<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/k-l\/\">1411<\/a>]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1930\u2019s Le Cour found several mysterious clay seals on the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/canary-islands\/\">Canary Islands<\/a> in a grotto near San Miguel de Tenerife, which he claimed were \u201cartefacts from the lost continent of Atlantis\u201d.
