{"id":36595,"date":"2017-04-06T08:13:51","date_gmt":"2017-04-06T07:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/?p=36595"},"modified":"2024-05-11T08:56:50","modified_gmt":"2024-05-11T07:56:50","slug":"luwians-n","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/luwians-n\/","title":{"rendered":"Luwians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The<\/strong><strong> Luwians <\/strong>according to the excellent <em>Luwian Studies<\/em> website<sup>(a) <\/sup> were <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>the people who lived in western Asia<\/em> <em>Minor during <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Luwians.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-36596 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Luwians.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"634\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Luwians.jpg 634w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Luwians-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a>the 2nd millennium BCE between the Mycenaeans in Greece and the Hittites in Central Anatolia.&#8221; <\/em>The Luwian city of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/troy\/\">Troy<\/a> has been controversially linked with Atlantis by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zangger-eberhard\/\">Eberhard Zangger<\/a><sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/w-z\/\"><sup>483<\/sup><\/a><sup>][<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/w-z\/\"><sup>484<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup>,\u00a0who has gone further and proposed that some of the petty kingdoms in the Luwian territory were part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/zangger-eberhard\/\">&#8216;Sea Peoples&#8217;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zangger&#8217;s claimed that a Luwian linkage with the Sea Peoples had been strongly supported by the work of British archaeologist, James Mellaart (1925-2012). However, after Mellaart&#8217;s death, it was found that he had supported much of what he wrote with forged documents. Zangger has offered the sequence of events that led to this discovery and points out that his Sea Peoples theory predates his involvement with Mellaart<sup>(b)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In 2016, Zangger published <em>The Luwian Civilisation; <\/em><em>The Missing Link in the Agean Bronze Age <\/em><sup>[<a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/w-z\/\">1217<\/a>]<\/sup>.
