The<\/strong> N<\/strong>orth<\/strong> S<\/strong>ea <\/strong>has been advocated by a variety of writers as the original site of Atlantis. J\u00fcrgen Spanuth<\/a> specified his native Heligoland<\/a> as its location in his well-researched work, Atlantis of the North<\/em>[<\/sup>015<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup>.\u00a0 <\/b>However, Spanuth was not the first to make this suggestion as Heinrich Pudor<\/a>, had advocated Helgoland as Atlantis in the 1930’s [1693<\/a>][1694<\/a>]<\/sup>,\u00a0but was unreferenced by Spanuth.<\/p>\n

Georg Lohle<\/a> in his book[<\/sup>446<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup> on world history identifies a location between England and Denmark that was inundated about 2000 BC. He also makes extensive use of the Oera Linda Book<\/em>. His German language website(<\/sup>a<\/sup>)<\/sup> has a wide range of photos and diagrams. Lohle daringly resurrects the old idea of the Earth being hollow and then combines it with another controversial concept, namely that it is still expanding(<\/sup>b<\/sup>)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

In the middle of the 20th century we find Robert Graves<\/a> and Rachel Carson<\/a>\u00a0were probably the first to suggest the Dogger Bank as the location of Atlantis. More recently Jean Deruelle<\/a>(e<\/sup>)<\/sup>, Sylvain Tristan<\/a>(c<\/sup>)<\/sup> and\u00a0Guy Gervis(d<\/sup>)<\/sup> have all opted for a location near the Dogger Bank, now more popularly known as Doggerland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The most recent challenger for the Atlantis title is located in the vicinity of Rockall<\/a>, an uninhabited islet north west of Ireland.<\/p>\n
