Before Roman domination it had been the capital of the Gallic Senones tribe, which gave the town its name.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/mestdaghmarcel\/\">Marcel Mestdagh<\/a> firmly believed that Sens was the capital of an ancient culture that he equated with Atlantis. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/coppens-philip\/\">Filip Coppens<\/a><strong>,<\/strong> a<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Sens-Atlantis-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-31198 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Sens-Atlantis-1.jpg\" alt=\"sens-atlantis\" width=\"500\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Sens-Atlantis-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Sens-Atlantis-1-278x300.jpg 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a> keen student of Mestdagh\u2019s research, has promoted his work, providing a brief overview of Mestdagh&#8217;s discoveries in one of his last books<sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/c\/\">1275<\/a>.188]<\/sup>.\u00a0Mestdagh identified a form of road system, laid out in giant ovals with radials centred on the ancient city of Sens where the greatest concentration of megalithic monuments in France existed<sup>(a) <\/sup>.
