However, while <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/columbus-christopher-n\/\">Columbus<\/a> garnered all the fame, it <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Pinzon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-39171\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Pinzon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"294\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a>seems that Pinzon should have been accorded even greater recognition. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sora-steven\/\">Steven Sora <\/a>in an <em>Atlantis Rising <\/em>article in 2015<sup>(a)<\/sup>, Pinzon and his brother, Vincente who commanded the <em>Nina<\/em>, had already crossed the Atlantic three times before Columbus, a claim Sora supports with three sources. They apparently made landfall in was later named <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/brazil\/\">Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/roger-coghill-n\/\">Roger Coghill<\/a>, in <em>The Message of Atlantis<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/c\/\">494<\/a>.1040] <\/sup> notes that Pinzon died only days after returning home <em>&#8220;believing on his death bed that he had at last discovered the island of Atlantis.&#8221; <\/em>However, Coghill does not give any reference.<\/p>\n<p>Half a millennium later the achievements of the Pinzons were finally recognised in the form of a postage stamp.<\/p>\n<p><sup>(a) <\/sup>See: <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/archive-3480\/\">Archive 3480<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Martin Alonzo Pinzon (1441-1493) is probably best known as the captain of the Pinta, one of the three ships in Columbus&#8217; first voyage to the New World.
