{"id":3924,"date":"2010-06-11T17:18:59","date_gmt":"2010-06-11T17:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/silbermann-otto\/"},"modified":"2022-04-02T07:36:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T06:36:30","slug":"silbermann-otto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/silbermann-otto\/","title":{"rendered":"Silbermann, Otto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Otto<\/strong> <strong>Silbermann <\/strong>was an investigator who, in 1930, published a short work<sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/s\/\"><sup>548<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> on the existence of Atlantis.<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/de-camp-lyon-sprague\/\">Sprague de Camp<\/a> commenting on Silbermann&#8217;s Atlantis theories described them as <em>&#8220;the most plausible African interpretation of Atlantis.&#8221;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&lt;<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>He covers all the principal theories of his day and finishes off with his conclusion that the Atlantis story had been based on a Phoenician record of a war between <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/egypt\/\">Egypt<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/libya\/\">Libya<\/a> that had been fought in the Chott region around 2540 BC. He argued that a story such as the Atlantis tale could not have survived oral transmission with all the details recorded by Plato for 9,000 years.
