Eventually, he was succeeded by <a href=\"#Strato\">Strato<\/a> of Lampsacus.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Theophrastus is frequently quoted as referring to Atlantis having colonies in the &#8216;sea&#8217;. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/philo-of-alexandria\/\">Philo of Alexandria<\/a> in his <em>De Aeternitate Mindi<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/n-r\/\">1423<\/a>]<\/sup> has cited Theophrastus&#8217; belief in the reality of Atlantis. <a href=\"#FrankeThorwaldC\">Thorwald C. Franke<\/a> expands on this in Appendix F of his <em>Aristotle and Atlantis<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/e-f\/\">880<\/a>]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Theophrastus is sometimes referred to as the \u2018father of botany\u2019 and was one of the earliest writers to note that trees gained an extra outer layer each year.
