It is situated at the Atlantic end of the Sous-Massa-Draa valley which was considered by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/hubner-michael\/\">Michael H\u00fcbner<\/a> to have\u00a0been the location of Atlantis<sup>(a)<\/sup>. The name &#8216;Agadir&#8217; was identified by him as a variation of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gades\/\">Gades<\/a>, a region of Atlantis, ruled by <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gadeirus\/\">Gadeiros<\/a>, the twin brother of Atlas. As you will see below, another of Atlas&#8217; siblings has also been linked with this region.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>Atlantisforschung<\/em>\u00a0 has noted that the German Atlantis researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/borchardt-dr-paul\/\">Paul Borchardt<\/a>, who\u00a0suspected\u00a0Atlantis\u00a0to be in the region of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tunisia\/\">Tunisia<\/a>, claimed that the name <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/ampheres\/\">Ampheres<\/a>, one of the kings of Atlantis, was derived\u00a0from a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/berbers\/\">Berber<\/a>\u00a0tribe called &#8216;Am-Phares&#8217;: &#8220;<em>They are undoubtedly the Pharusii of Ptolemy (IV, 6, 17) in the Wadi Draa south of the Atlas. Am means people. The name is still very common today.<\/em>\u00a0<em>Borchardt thus localizes<\/em>\u201c, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/hofmann-ulrich\/\">Ulrich Hofmann<\/a>, an expert on Borchard\u2019s work, remarks, <em>&#8220;<\/em>\u00a0<em>the area of the Ampheres on the southwestern edge of the\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/maghreb-the\/\">Maghreb<\/a><em>, in modern-day\u00a0Morocco, south of the 2500m high\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/atlas-mountains\/\"><em>Atlas Mountains<\/em><\/a><em>.&#8221;<\/em><sup>(b)<\/sup><\/p>\r\n<p>Keep in mind that Agadir is about 3,300 km by sea from Athens<b> <\/b>and 3,700 km from the Nile Delta. Not what you might call &#8216;easy striking distances&#8217;.
