The lost tribes of Israel or even the Vikings were suggested.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/donnelly-ignatius-loyola\/\">Ignatius Donnelly <\/a>proposed that colonists from Atlantis were responsible for the construction of the mounds, devoting chapter three of part five of his book to the idea. Preceding Donnelly&#8217;s claim of an Atlantean connection for the Mississippi Mounds were those of the 19th-century writer, Lafcadio Hearn. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/colavito-jason-n\/\">Jason Colavito<\/a> has expanded on Hearn&#8217;s probable sources, which include P.G. Wodehouse&#8217;s grandfather, John Bathurst Deane<sup>(a)<\/sup>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Colavito\u00a0has now published <em>The Mound Builder Myth <\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/c\/\">1723<\/a>]\u00a0<\/sup> in which he debunks the 19th-century white supremacist attempts to claim that the mounds <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>as the work of a lost white race of \u201ctrue\u201d native Americans.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&gt;<\/span><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/little-dr-gregory-and-dr-lora\/\">Greg and Lora Little<\/a> have also suggested a link between Atlantis and the Mound Builders<sup>(b)<\/sup>.
