His interest in prehistory and ancient cultures led him to develop a new theory<sup>(<\/sup><sup>a<\/sup><sup>)<\/sup>, which places the location of Atlantis in the Southern Adriatic Basin. He contends that the destruction of Atlantis was a consequence of an asteroid impact, recorded in <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/greek-mythology\/\">Greek mythology<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/phaeton\/\">Pha\u00ebton<\/a>, that struck either the Ionian or the Tyrrhenian Sea, just west of Sicily.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/otranto-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-44308\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/otranto-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a>Hod\u017eic also claims that the Pillars of Heracles were situated at the Strait of Otranto and that the nearly 70,000 stone blocks or stecaks spread through Bosnia and the surrounding region were remnants of Atlantean structures. Hod\u017eic\u2019s ideas are interesting, but not wholly convincing.<\/p>\r\n<p>In 2019, Hod\u017eic published, in Croatian, <em>Nepoznato doba megalita <\/em><sup>[<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/h-j\/\"><sup>1689<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup> (The Unknown Age of the Megalith) as well as a ten-page synopsis in English<sup>(b)<\/sup>.
