However, Huet was eventually appointed the Catholic bishop of Soissons in 1685, but was not confirmed in the post by Pope Innocent XI because of his homosexuality. Subsequently, the succeeding Pope, Alexander VIII, appointed Huet bishop of Avranches.<\/p>\n<p>Huet expressed similar views to Borchart, linking the biblical patriarchs and the story of Atlantis in his <em>Demonstratio Evangelica<\/em><sup>[<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/h-j\/\">1007<\/a>]<\/sup><em>. <\/em>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/spence-james-lewis-thomas-chalmers\/\">Lewis Spence <\/a>accused<strong><sup>[<\/sup><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/main-bibliography\/s\/\"><sup>259<\/sup><\/a><strong><sup>.<\/sup><\/strong><sup>33]<\/sup> Huet along with <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/samuel-borchart-new\/\">Borchart<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/gerardus-johannis-vossius-amended\/\">Vossius<\/a> of \u2018ingeniously misreading\u2019 the Pentateuch in order to add credibility to this opinion.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/kershaw-stephen-p-n\/\">Stephen P.
