{"id":663,"date":"2010-02-10T08:48:01","date_gmt":"2010-02-10T08:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/663\/"},"modified":"2023-03-27T08:57:26","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T07:57:26","slug":"663","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/663\/","title":{"rendered":"Pelagie Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The <\/strong><strong>P<\/strong><strong>elagie <\/strong><strong>I<\/strong><strong>slands <\/strong>is the current political name of three small \u00a0islands, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Pelagic-Islands.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-26953\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Pelagic-Islands-254x300.png\" alt=\"Pelagic Islands\" width=\"254\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Pelagic-Islands-254x300.png 254w, https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Pelagic-Islands.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/a>controlled by Italy, located between <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/sicily\/\">Sicily<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/tunisia\/\">Tunisia<\/a> and are comprised of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/lampedusa\/\">Lampedusa<\/a>, Linosa and Lampione. <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/mifsud-dr-anton\/\">Anton Mifsud<\/a> informs us that the title was originally applied to the three islands PLUS <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/malta\/\">Malta<\/a> and Gozo and contends that this larger grouping constitutes the remnants of Plato\u2019s Atlantis<sup>(b)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1950s, submerged structures were claimed to have been discovered in the vicinity of <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/linosa\/\">Linosa<\/a> by the celebrated underwater explorer, <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantipedia.ie\/samples\/bucher-raimondo\/\">Raimondo Bucher<\/a><sup>(a)<\/sup>.
