Bogachev, Vladimir (m)

Vladimir Bogachev (1881-1965) is regarded by many as the father of Russian Atlantology and was renowned as a geologist who lectured at the University of Dorpat in Estonia in 1910. Ten years later he became Professor of Geology and Palaeontology at Novocherkassk and in 1927 became Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy and received a similar Doctorate from Baku University. In 1940 he became Professor of Historical Geology at Rostov-on-Don. In 1960 he moved to Baku, where he died.

Bogachev was responsible in 1912 for the first publication on the subject of the geology of Atlantis with a booklet entitled Atlantida.
