Brown, Alfred Samler

Alfred Samler Brown>(1859-1936) was a travel guide writer, specialising in the Macaronesian Islands. He was greatly devoted to the Canary Islands,  where he lived< and was responsible for expanding British tourism to the archipelago through his popular guidebook, Madeira and the Canary Islands[1257] which ran to fourteen editions before his death.

As far as I can ascertain the first edition of Brown’s book was published in 1890, a few years after Donnelly‘s Atlantis was launched and its conclusions seems to have prompted Brown to consider the possibility of a connection with the Canaries without actually endorsing the idea. He offers very little to Atlantology, with outdated geology and racist views.
