Lucanus, Marcus Annaeus
Marcus Annaeus Lucanus (39–65 AD) the Latin poet was a nephew of the philosopher Seneca. Ten books of his epic Bellum Civile sometimes referred to as Pharsalia have survived. Lucanus located the Strait of Heracles in Syrtis Minor, a view expressed previously by Apollonius of Rhodes. Anton Mifsud has pointed out that this reference has been omitted from modern translations of Lucanus’ work.
