Attala (L)
Attala is the name given by the Berbers of North Africa to an island in the Atlantic. Thousands of miles to the east we find the same name, Atala, in the sacred books of the Hindus, the Mahabharata and Puranas being used to identify a continent located in the “western ocean”. Colonel Francis Wilford who translated[114] the Puranas in the early 19th century located Atala, the White Island, in the same latitude as the Canary Islands that are close to the North African coast.
